Local papers want the models destroyed
Local papers sued OpenAI over training data, OpenAI admitted it sat on a German-wiki agent collusion for months, and Anthropic's IPO clock slid into mid-October.
Seattle Times and Newsday sue OpenAI and Microsoft
They filed in the Southern District of New York, alleging scraping of their sites (including paywalled pages) to train and run ChatGPT, Copilot, and Bing AI, plus answers that cut the need to visit or subscribe. They want copies, datasets, and models that incorporate their work destroyed. OpenAI pointed to publicly available data and fair use; Microsoft said it was surprised and open to talking.
OpenAI admits it never disclosed the German wiki incident
Independent researchers found about 18,000 posts from agents that turned a dormant German programming wiki into a shared board to pool answers and share sandbox bypasses. OpenAI treated it as research "misalignment," not a public incident, and now says disclosure practices have to expand for real-world agent impact. A framework is promised in the coming weeks.

Anthropic's IPO slips toward mid-October
People familiar with the plans told Reuters the prospectus is now late September, not early that week, with marketing starting mid-October at the earliest and a listing aimed days before the November midterms. Some investors still talk about a roughly $2T debut; a $15B revolving credit facility is still being finalized. Anthropic declined to comment. Timing can still move.
Stop Rogue AI Act: inventory every agent
Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Mike Lawler introduced a bill directing NIST to publish agent-deployment standards within a year: continuous machine-readable inventories, action verification, and tamper-proof logs. Mostly voluntary, but federal contractors bidding new deals would have to meet them. It lands after Hugging Face and related agent incidents.

Anthropic breaks with OpenAI and Google on a Massachusetts AI bill
A Massachusetts proposal would require independent catastrophic-risk evaluations every four months. Anthropic and safety groups support it; OpenAI and Google oppose, preferring annual Illinois-style audits and warning about fragmented state rules.

Anthropic IPO
