DeepSeek makes its own Pro look expensive
DeepSeek shipped a Flash model that beats its own Pro on cost and speed, DOJ opened an Nvidia–Groq antitrust probe, and an Anthropic researcher quit over the race to self-improving AI.
DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash
DeepSeek called it the smallest model in its new architecture family: a 552B MoE with native vision, a Causal Encoder–Decoder design (8B active on input, 16B on output), and a much smaller KV cache. API id is `deepseek-flash`; old Flash names route here, and from Sep 14 UTC all V4 Pro traffic routes to Flash at Flash prices until V4.1-Pro ships.
