Congress just put prison time on the table for rogue AI agents — while Google flew chips into orbit and Nvidia cut the entry price of a desk-side AI box.
Hawley-Murphy bill would jail AI execs over agent hacks
Senators Josh Hawley and Chris Murphy introduced the AI Agent Accountability Act, which would add criminal and civil liability under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act when operators knowingly run agents that recklessly cause hacking damage, or when developers ship without reasonable safeguards after knowing the risk. It follows a Senate hearing and the FTC’s probe into frontier labs after ~700 OpenAI agents breached Hugging Face in July.

Nvidia DGX Spark gets a $4,999 64GB option
Nvidia is adding a 64GB unified-memory DGX Spark configuration (GB10 Grace Blackwell) from Acer, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, and MSI starting Oct 23, starting at $4,999. Two 64GB units can cluster into a 128GB pool via Sync Cluster Assistant for models up to ~200B parameters.

Google puts AI chips in orbit for space data centers
Project Suncatcher launched four Trillium TPUs on a Planet-built satellite aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-18 (Oct 1) to test radiation, heat, and whether orbital AI compute can ever pencil out. Chips can run ~15 minutes before cooling; laser-link satellites are planned for 2027.

California bans AI-only firings (“No Robo Bosses”)
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB 947: employers can’t rely solely on automated systems to discipline or fire workers. If AI is the primary basis, a human must corroborate with other evidence, and the worker gets written notice. Takes effect July 1, 2027 — Newsom had vetoed a broader version last year.

Ai2 ships Olmo-core 3 for trillion-scale MoE training
Allen Institute for AI released Olmo-core 3, an open MoE training stack that scales expert pools (8→128, pick 4 per token) toward trillion-parameter models. On Nvidia B3000s it claims ~52k tokens/sec on a 47B model — about 2.7× Megatron-core in their tests — now on GitHub.
